89. Watauga County -- Boone -- 10/28/07

It was a pretty brisk day, but Jennifer and I had fun getting hot chocolate, walking around town and enjoying the day with TONS of people walking around on a Sunday morning. I haven't ever hung out in downtown Boone before, which is just off of Appalachian State University's campus. Definitely a cool place to check out.

88. Avery County -- Newland -- 10/28/07

Jennifer and me in front of the highest county seat in elevation in NC! Our church took a retreat to Luther Rock near Newland, and we had to grab this courthouse. Look at the beautiful fall foliage in the square across from the courthouse. That's awesome. Complete with the Ten Commandments! You can't really see it in the first picture, but there's a compass rose that encircles the flagpole, which gives this courthouse/county bonus points in my book.
